In Mplayer there are settings for video and sound. Try setting your video to (xv) and see if that makes a difference.
Also try running the following command to set the video section to xv i find with some hardware auto does not work.
gstreamer-properties
Just try posting the story and i will approve it. I would leave it open but the amount of spam is incredible.
